Sounds of the O.C. (b$%ch)!

Oh gawd, i heart the O.C.  Confession:  I have every season on dvd. Josh Schwartz there you go again making must-see tv.  Miss Seth & Sum, like so much. Even though I acknowledge they are fictional characters, it’s like a piece of me died when the show was cancelled.  Insert super-sigh.  I have been streaming The Killers for my sister today, since I am taking her to the concert happening at  Toronto’s Molson Amphitheatre this Sunday night.  This band received much of its mainstream recognition from being featured on the popular tv show.

The music directors for the show had a great knack for finding undiscovered artists and pairing the emo music with the dramatic/comedic storylines.  Here are some awesome tunes that will remind you of the time Ryan & Marissa were KB-ing on the ferris wheel at Kick Off Carnival or when Seth & Sum kissed while he was hanging upside down in a Spiderman costume in the rain.  You love it.

  • Phantom Planet – California (This used to be my ringtone)
  • Super Furry Animals – Hello Sunshine
  • Matt Pond PA – New Hampshire & Champagne Supernova
  • Modest Mouse – Ocean Breathes Salty
  • Death Cab for Cutie – A Lack of Colour (Seth Cohen’s favourite band)
  • The Killers – Mr. Brightside
  • Kings of Leon – My Party (Fun fact: Per Entertainment Weekly, the lead singer wrote this song about Rachel Bilson because he started watching the O.C. while on tour.  He joked that all he wanted for his birthday was R-Bils…and the universe listened.  She showed up at the same club that night but at the time Adam Brody was macking her cute @ss).
  • Band of Horses – End’s Not Here (You mustx3 see Band of Horses live in concert.  They are insanely amazing.)
  • Reindeer Section – Cartwheels

Too embarrassed to pick up OC mixes @ HMV? That's ok, that's what iTunes is for.
